No matter if this company is legit or not, if you owe money, the original creditor has to notify you in writing that your debt has been passed on to someone else. That third party then has to send you a letter confirming they now own the debt. If they don’t follow this process, you’re under no obligation to pay them anything. The big firms these jokers claim to represent would never mess up that step. I work in debt collection myself, so I understand all the strict rules you have to go through before debt is handed over to another company.

Had a call from CRS Debt Collectors, I just said thanks for settling my debt and ended the call. They seem to buy debts for a bargain and then try to say you owe them, but really, the money's owed to the original creditor, not them.

One of these firms was Clear Pay, which I'd never even heard of, let alone used. In a bid to clarify matters, I called them up, but it was apparent that I’ve not sought credit in ages. Got a message saying it was CRS and not to ignore the call, then to press 1 to talk to someone. Ended up hanging up because it was a business line and we get loads of spam like this.

This definitely isn’t a genuine debt collector, I checked and there’s no proper company linked to this number like you’d expect from real debt collectors. They’ve popped up on here a few times claiming to be legit, but don’t be taken in. Proper debt collectors will know exactly who the debt is owed to (usually a place you already know), they’ll either email you or send a letter with all your details, a reference number, and a proper website with the security lock showing in the browser. Best to just ignore any texts or calls from this number.

SORT OUT YOUR DEBTS!! If you don't, everyone ends up footing the bill with higher prices. BUT be careful not to pay these scammers - pay the actual people you owe. If you reckon debts just disappear after a while, that's not true at all. If paying up isn’t possible, get advice from your local Citizens Advice on bankruptcy options. If you’re debt-free, make sure someone hasn’t stolen your identity. Plus, if your phone number or address is fairly new, the previous owner might have racked up debts - double-check to avoid messing up your credit score.

They claim to be CRS and say I owe Lending Stream cash. Ive never even had a loan from them. Total scam, if they ring me again I’m definitely reporting it to the police.

Loads of texts from CRS about some debt that’s not mine, had to block a couple of numbers. Now this one popped up, saying it’s from Halifax. Left me a voicemail but was so muffled I could barely make out to press 1. Then got an email all threatening about taking legal steps. Total scam.

I've received calls from the same number multiple times, along with a few texts. The audio in those messages isn't very clear, but it sounds like they mention something about CRS or similar - I'm not entirely sure. When I looked it up online, it seems to be linked to a debt collection agency. However, the thing is, I’m not in any kind of debt! Honestly, with the number of missed calls and messages I've been getting, I would expect to receive a proper letter instead of these dubious voicemails. It all seems rather dodgy to me, and I suspect it might be a scam.

Claimed to be from some debt collection agency but I don’t owe anything. Total SCAM... Anyone saying it’s legit probably actually owes money and this company just pretends to help them, for a fee.
