Got a dodgy call from this number earlier today. I told whoever was on the line that they’d got the wrong person, and then all I heard was quiet. Tried ringing the number again and a recorded message said it had been suspended by some outfit called Numbergroup. Did a bit of digging and found out Numbergroup rents out virtual numbers, like landlines, to businesses and probably scammers too, helping them pick the best numbers to use. Honestly, this company shouldn’t be allowed to operate if they’re helping fraudsters like that.

Naturally, when I refused to hand over any of my personal info, he abruptly hung up. Their line is that if you cough up a certain sum, they'll magically cancel the arrest. I ended up contacting the police and shared the scammer's number with them; they mentioned they were already clued up about that particular con.
