So someone rang me and, stupidly, I agreed with what they told me and made an appointment. Later on, I had second thoughts and tried ringing the number they gave to cancel, but it didn’t show up on my phone. I’ve reported everything to Call Protect now. They mentioned they’d ring before arriving at my place, but if they don’t, I’m just not going to open the door. Do you think I should contact Trading Standards, or is there another place I should reach out to?

Twice this week I’ve gotten calls from this number saying they’ll give me a free energy check. Nothing’s ever really free tho. I just ended the call both times.

Scammers like these used to go by the name Approved Green. They were even featured on Watchdog recently, you can find the video on YouTube showing just how dodgy their tricks are. They operate out of West Vale in Halifax, right near the West Vale Cricket Club, just like Watchdog showed. The same Goldthorpe lot still run the place. Guys called Alex, Mark and Michael, who say they’re from Clear Echo Systems, are the ones behind it. Honestly, steer well clear of them. Alex is apparently still hanging about there too. Proper dodgy, nasty bloke he is.

This number 01422524046 rang me at about 9:30 in the morning, and the person on the other end actually used my name, saying something about an energy efficiency survey going on nearby. They even mentioned my exact address! I never gave any confirmation or details, and when I asked why they were calling and who gave them permission to do so, they just cut me off. Funny how all that data protection stuff seems totally useless then?

I’ve tried calling back several times but never got a proper response, which makes me question if this number really belongs to a legitimate firm. Since I’ve got a hospital visit then, I’d have let them know if the number was actually from a real office, but as it stands, I’m really unsure about this whole thing.

Got a call from this number on the morning of 11th December 2018, about 10:23am. I answered with a quick "hello" but no one said anything back, so I just ended the call. Going to block this caller for sure.

Gets through almost every day but stays quiet on the line. When I finally answered properly, I was a bit blunt and asked what the call was about. He snapped back saying I shouldn’t talk to him that way, claiming he had work to do. Then he refused to explain the reason for calling!

He said he was calling about energy efficiency checks in my neighbourhood and then asked if I lived at - he actually used my exact address. I have no clue how they managed to get hold of both my name and address. I ended the call right away without confirming anything.

My phone rang from this number and at first there was nothing but quiet. When I said hello, a female voice came on asking if I was "my actual name", which weirdly enough she got right. I have no idea where she found that. I accidentally told her yes, thinking maybe it was legit. She then said she was calling about an energy use survey around here and then suddenly the line just cut off.

I picked up the phone to a rather awkward silence, and when I finally greeted the caller with a 'hello', a woman promptly addressed me by my full name. It was rather alarming as I had no clue how she had my details. I went ahead and affirmed that yes, I was indeed that individual. She then mentioned she was calling regarding an energy usage survey happening in my locality, but just as quickly as the conversation began, the line went completely silent. Looking back, I can't believe I confirmed my identity-definitely a silly move on my part!

some bloke rang me saying he worked for energy efficiency and wanted to check my house. he even knew my address which was a bit worrying. he said it was about the warm winter payment eligibility. i told him i don’t let anyone in without proper authorisation and he just said alright then and hung up. this kind of call could definitely fool elderly people waiting on their cold weather payment. really think this needs looking into properly.
