I received a rather brisk call earlier today from an individual whose words were flying out of his mouth at quite the pace! I found myself having to request him to repeat the name of his firm multiple times. It turned out to be Verso UK, which has a rather unsavoury reputation after being penalised by the ICO in 2017 for making nuisance calls masquerading as 'surveys' while really trying to push their telemarketing agenda. It’s rather vexing, to say the least, and if they dare to ring me up again, I’ll be sure to block their number without a second thought!

Got a call from someone in India. They wanted me to take my number off their list but said they couldn’t do it unless I shared my mobile number again, which they obviously already had. I’ve just blocked them now.

My mobile buzzed and I answered with hello. There was the typical pause then an Indian accent lady asked if this was Mrs something. It was, but I fibbed and said she’d got the wrong number. She sounded quite shocked and then just put the phone down.

The person on the phone spoke so fast, I had to keep asking them to say the company name again. It was Verso UK, got slapped with a fine by the ICO back in 2017 for making annoying calls pretending it was a "survey" but it was just marketing. Proper irritating that they actually read out my name and address to me.

I tend to ignore calls from numbers that I'm not familiar with, and frankly, they never seem to pick up when I take a punt on answering. 01420571951 is my number and I'm a bloke, but when my missus picked up this woman with a strong Asian accent was asking for ‘Mrs’ like she wasn’t after anyone in particular. She then started with the usual chat, like ‘how are you doing, having a good day?’ She said she was ringing from some company called Besu. It was hard to catch what she was saying because of her accent. My wife didn’t hang about and just ended the call.
