The caller had a noticeable accent and addressed me directly, which was rather unsettling. When I inquired about their identity, they claimed to be from The AA. I pressed for confirmation, wanting to ensure they were indeed affiliated with the AA Automobile Association, to which he replied that they were from AA Accident Assist... not quite the same thing, is it? He mentioned the reason for the ring was in relation to a recent accident, which was puzzling since I’m not a driver and have never owned a vehicle. I bluntly asked him, "So, are you one of those ambulance chasers?" and he candidly admitted that he was... well, that was a surprise! The chap remained courteous throughout our chat, and I decided to keep him on the line for a bit before wrapping up and choosing to block the number.
