Got a call from 01418825833 on my home phone. When I picked up, a lady with an accent asked if she was speaking to Mrs (my name). She said her name was Jenny and mentioned I’d been charged £149 for some kitchen gadget or whatever. I told her I had no clue what she meant, and she just hung up straight away. Definitely sounded like a scam.

Got a call from 01418825833 earlier today, 11/10/23 around 12:10. The guy spoke with a strong Indian accent and I had to ask him to say things a few times. He claimed to be calling from a kitchen appliance store and said I was owed some money back. When I asked which appliance it was about, he tried to convince me by confirming my name and address, so I’d believe he was legit. But when I said just send me a cheque then, he cut me off and hung up.

This is getting on my nerves big time. For the past three mornings straight, I’ve sprinted to pick up my landline just to be met with total silence on the other end. Honestly, it feels like I’m being harassed. Can someone please make it stop?

On Monday, I got a call from a bloke named Jack who sounded like he was from the Indian subcontinent. He rang me after an online scam he tried on Friday didn’t go through. He started promising to pay back the money I managed to get back with help from my bank. But once he saw he wasn’t getting anywhere, he just ended the call. Because of that dodgy hack attempt, I’m now having my computer wiped and rebuilt, just to be sure there’s no nasty malware left behind.

On Monday, I received a call from a chap named Jack, who had a distinctive Indian accent. He was quite insistent and seemed to be following up on an online scam I managed to dodge on the previous Friday. Curiously, he claimed he was offering a refund for money he didn’t manage to swindle from me. His persistence was quite remarkable. After several attempts to persuade me, I firmly told him I was not interested. Once he realised I wouldn’t budge, he abruptly ended the call. The idea that I should entertain the notion of giving him a second opportunity to con me, especially after his failed attempt, was utterly ridiculous. Why on earth would I need a refund for funds that never left my accounts? To be on the safe side, I’m having my computer completely overhauled to ensure no sneaky malware was left behind.

I didn’t pick up since it was an unknown number and we hardly ever use our landline, it’s just included with our internet really. Big thanks to those who've shared their thoughts, happy I ignored it now. Makes me wonder how on earth they get hold of our numbers, given that we never share them and don’t even use the landline much anymore - everyone’s got mobiles these days. It’s so annoying that scammers are still targeting people who might not be so careful.

Complete rip-off! I got two calls in just a couple days - one from a woman and one from a bloke, both with Asian accents. They said they were ringing about my Microsoft computer, even though I don’t own one. When I said it sounded fishy, the chap got really rude and started yelling, told me to “bog off” and even bragged about scamming Brits for close to 500 years. The woman was pretty nasty too. Total rubbish.

Got a call from someone claiming they needed to return money I’d supposedly overpaid on some electrical items. They gave my name and address first, then asked for my bank card info to send the "refund." I told them they must already have my details and ended the call nicely. They didn’t say anything about what I’d supposedly bought or agreed to. Just a heads up - this kind of story could easily fool people who aren’t as cautious, since I don’t do much shopping online and spotted the scam straight away.
