When I told them I'd get in touch when I had time, they asked for my info for "security" reasons. I told them they already had my info since they called me - unless they were a fraud. They wouldn't give me theirs, so I looked the number up and it seemed dodgy. I've saved the number now so I can mess about with them if they ring again!

This is just spam, not a proper scam. The number appears to be real. Most probably it’s not Scottish Power themselves but some contractors trying to push smart meters on you. Given the current energy prices, a smart meter can actually help you track your usage better. BUT it’s best to order one straight from Scottish Power through your online account, never through a random phone call. I’d recommend blocking this number. Signing up for anything from cold callers is honestly a bad idea.
