A couple of days back, I missed a call but didn't bother answering. Then today, the same number rang again, and I picked up. It turned out to be an automated voice claiming to be from a BPO. The recording told me to press 1 to talk to an advisor and something else for option 2, but I can't recall what that was. I ended the call straight away. I have no debts or any unpaid bills, so this all felt a bit dodgy. I did some digging on the company, and they do look genuine, but the call definitely felt off - like someone else might be spoofing their number.

I nearly got caught out by this one too. If you owe money to HMRC or DWP, they don't ring you up asking for cash. Any debts would just be taken straight from your Universal Credit or salary.

It's beyond me how these crooks manage to fake calls from legit companies. From what I’ve read on their site, BPO will always send a letter before even trying to phone you. So if you get a call out of the blue, just hang up and block the number. If it’s genuine, you’ll receive something in the post from BPO collections. Stay safe!

Somebody told me they were from BPO Collections, but I have no clue who they are or why they’d be ringing me. The bloke then wanted my name to "check something," but I wasn’t about to give it without a proper reason for their call. So, this firm called BPO is a debt collector. Even tho their number says Glasgow, they’re actually from Ayrshire. They ain’t trying to scam you or anything, legit company. If they’re going after a debt that’s not yours, just tell them straight away. Plus, if you challenge a debt, they have to pause and sort it out before moving forward.

I just received a call from this number, and it turned out to be an automated message claiming to be from BT. Something about it felt off, like it was probably a scam.

Got a dodgy phone call claiming to be from BTO. They try to weed out those who won’t play along by asking you to press certain buttons - if you don’t comply, they move on, saving themselves effort and cash by not wasting time on people who won’t fall for it. Seriously, don’t respond or press any of the numbers they tell you to. Just end the call and make a report. Consider contacting your MP to raise awareness - this isn’t just some harmless “white collar crime,” it’s disgusting behaviour targeting the most vulnerable among us.

I keep receving texts saying something like "Mrs Emma Ruff, this is an important message from BPO, please call us right away on 01418462076 and mention ref 136427963". But I dont know any Emma Ruff?? Also its from 07974360912. Really annoying and seems totally fake!

Just got a call today at 12:40pm on 26/5/2025 from 01418462076. When I picked up, the person told me to press button 2, but before I could do anything the answering machine kicked in and then the call got ended. Bit weird if you ask me.

Some dodgy folk rang me claiming to be from that BBC show, Scam Interceptors. They wanted my name and bank info, saying it was to protect my cash from being stolen. Total scam, don’t fall for it!

Got a message from this number around 12:23am claiming to be BPO and giving me a reference number. I looked up what BPO means and found out it’s related to debts, but I don’t owe anything. After reading the other reviews here, I just blocked the number straight away.

My older neighbour had a call from this number today but didn’t pick up. It came just a few hours after he received a dodgy text pretending to be from OVO! The weird thing is, I thought you can only have an OVO account if you create one online, and he’s never even been on the internet before!

My old neighbour received a message telling him to ring a number about an OVO account - which is utterly ridiculous since he’s never been a customer with OVO, ever! He’s been hassled loads by different numbers claiming it was about an OVO scam. Best just to ignore these because to be with OVO, you’d need to have an online account first, which he’s never had, as he’s not even got internet at home!
