Got a call from some scammer saying my ip was hacked and telling me to press 1. Just blocked the number straight away. Same old trick!

Got a call from a number claiming to be my internet provider, sounded like some sort of automated message with a very thick American accent. My isp's right here in South Yorkshire and everyone there speaks local, so this felt a bit off to me. Anyone else think this might be dodgy?

BEWARE! I’ve just received a dodgy call from 0141 779 1553 (Glasgow), claiming to be from my internet provider, insisting that my IP address has been compromised and that my broadband would be cut off within the next day. It’s a complete SCAM! Whatever you do, don’t press 1 to connect with someone on the line; they’re just after your cash. After the call, I double-checked with Virgin Media, and they confirmed my connection is perfectly safe and that the previous call was a fraudulent one. Cheers!
