It was only when a rather thick Geordie chap on the line asked if his colleague was with me that she finally decided to take off. To get rid of her, I had to pretend I was completely hopeless with bills and that my partner would have to assist me, which was a bit of a stretch. I promised I’d ring back when my partner was about.
