The call came through from a Glasgow number, so I decided to pick up. At first, it was dead quiet, but then I caught a woman’s voice mumbling something like, “she’s picked up”. I tried saying hello once more before I ended the call swiftly.

I got a call from someone with a proper Scottish accent, sounded posh even, saying there was some kind of tax fraud linked to me. They told me if I didn’t hit 1 on the phone I’d be arrested soon by the police. Didn’t hang around, just ended the call straight away.
