I received a pre-recorded message from what appeared to be a fake HMRC number, urging me to hit 1 to get in touch with my case officer about my alleged tax evasion. Definitely a scam! It’s a perilous phishing attempt!

As soon as I picked up, they disconnected. I'm convinced it was yet another dodgy call coming from India. I'm intrigued, though-how do these scammers manage to make their calls appear as if they're originating from the UK?
