On the 27th of August, 2020, I received a rather unsettling automated call purporting to be from HMRC. The recording alleged that there was a tax fraud investigation linked to my name, urging me to press 1 for further information. It ominously warned that neglecting to comply could lead to the issuance of a warrant for my arrest. Naturally curious, I pressed 1, but to my surprise, the line went dead shortly after. Quite an odd experience, to say the least!
