Got a call from someone named Chris on this number, claiming to be from my local energy company. Didn't go any further with it. Good thing I checked because it’s listed as a scam.

I got a call where the bloke was asking about my appliances. When I asked him which ones he meant, he just told me to say what appliances I’ve got. So it wasn’t about anything specific, more like he was just trying to gather info. Pretty obvious that was a scam trying to fish for details!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Lifestyle UK, but I didn’t hang around long enough to find out - just put the phone down. Sounds like one of those dodgy scams to snag your bank info.

Blocking calls is pointless. These scammers can ring you from loads of random, computer-made numbers from all over the globe. A few posts down there’s some advice on how to handle these dodgy calls trying to con us. Honestly, those TV shows about scams are a must-watch if you’ve got a phone and a bank account. Just go on iPlayer or My5, search for phone scams, and you’ll see loads of useful stuff. Also, the best way to tackle these is by reporting any scam calls via text to 7726 - nothing will change if we don’t start doing that.

Last year, over a billion pounds was stolen from folks here in the UK by scammers, at least that’s what those TV shows on the usual channels have been saying about phone fraud. You can catch them on iPlayer or My5 if you fancy a look. Also, search for 7726 online and have a proper read of everything that pops up. That’s the number you’re meant to use to report any dodgy calls if we actually want to see these scams getting sorted.

So, apparently I’m meant to receive a £40 refund on my heating bills for the next half a year, plus they said they’d post me a discount card for shopping at the supermarkets. But they told me they need my bank or credit card info before they can send anything out. When I told them I only use cash, they just ended the call on me.

My elderly mate got called up twice earlier today. The person on the line kept asking loads of stuff, trying to sound like they were from some government office or maybe the electricity company. It was all a bit pushy and made her really uncomfortable. When she said to just send a letter so she could check it properly and maybe get some advice, they just put the phone down on her. Proper dodgy behaviour.

I answered the phone, gave a quick "hello, good afternoon," but nobody replied. Tried saying it a couple more times but still nothing. Then after a little while, the call just ended.

Got a call about some dodgy appliance insurance scheme. Sounds like a right con to me.

Got a call from this number today. The person on the other end knew my name and address and started talking about some electrical appliance insurance, saying I'd get the paperwork in the post within a few days. I said I didn’t have any appliance cover and wasn’t interested. After that, he told me to get off the phone. Then he yelled “bye” really loud and I called him a stupid idiot, then he just cut me off. Not sure if it’s a scam or maybe a genuine offer, but thought I’d share what happened.
