Got a call supposedly from Amazon support about fixing my Alexa, but it turned out to be a scam. I stupidly let them use TeamViewer, then they told me my PC was riddled with problems and tried to push a security package costing £200. Total waste and a bit scary to be honest.

When I was attempting to get my Amazon Echo Dot up and running, I got a call supposedly from Amazon support. They began some checks and claimed my network had serious issues and that my computers needed fixing. The call dropped, then they rang back from 020 7084 7911 asking for remote access to my laptop. They sounded really convincing, so watch out. Amazon actually got in touch later, which is odd because I can't figure out how they knew I was facing problems unless there was some kind of security leak on Amazon’s side.

Some bloke claiming to be from Amazon said he could help set up my Alexa Dot, then asked me to go on my laptop and visit some weird website. That raised alarms straight away especially when he mentioned stuff about me setting it up without me saying anything. Told him no thanks, my daughter’s sort of helping me with it. Ended the call there and then.

I got a call from someone saying he was from Amazon, offering to help me set up my Alexa Dot. He asked me to use my laptop and visit a certain website, which instantly made me suspicious. When I asked how he knew I was setting up the device, he couldn’t really explain. I told him not to worry because my daughter was on her way to sort it out for me, and I ended the call there. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

Had a call about setting up my Alexa Dot, spent about half an hour on the phone with a guy who kept throwing tech terms at me like he was from Amazon. Turns out, he wanted £200 just to fix some computer problems and get Alexa working. Feels like a scam to me, anyone else had this?

Some bloke called himself Bob claiming to be from Alexa, saying there was a problem with my account or something. I just told him to piss off, total scam, nothing but rubbish.
