Got a call on our company phone from a different number than the one they left a message on. They left a voicemail asking to chat with our 'treasurer'. Sounded dodgy to me, probably just some scam trying to get through. You could hear loads of noise, like people talking in the back, so I’m guessing it’s one of those call centre scams.

This bloke with a sort of Indian accent keeps ringing me up pretending he’s from some broker that can supposedly cut my electricity bills. What freaked me out was how much he seemed to know - had all my meter details, the last company I used, even my full address. He doesn’t stop either, calls me loads throughout the day and always leaves a message if I don’t pick up.

It was a man with an Indian accent named Karshan, who said it was really important and to do with checking bills and meter readings for a community hall we once hired. We haven't been there in ages, so we're pretty convinced it’s some kind of scam. I reckon he found my partner’s phone number on the charity’s site.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent, trying to push cheaper deals for charities. He claimed we’d chatted before, and had some details, but clearly needed more to carry on with his trick. I told him I didn’t have the info ready and asked him to send me the tariffs by email so I could have a look. He gave me this number and said he’d ring back the next day. The email he sent showed prices a bit lower, but we’re locked in until December 2025 anyway. Bit dodgy if you ask me.

Got a call from a number with no ID, but the voicemail was from someone named Tracy who asked me to ring back on 0141 628 6639 and speak to her directly. Looks like one of those usual utility broker cons. They're pulling info straight from Charity Commission listings and going after Churches and big businesses that use a lot of electricity and gas. Best thing to do is just block the number and don’t engage at all.

Got a call from some Indian centre, but they were using a London number (0203 769 3800) that you can't track. They said they were based in Glasgow with this number (01416286639) but didn’t even know their own address and had to ask around. Clearly think we’re all gullible here in the UK, but I’m not having any of it. Total waste of time and full of fibs. Don’t give them any info - they can’t even say who your supplier is; they just want you to spill the beans.

I've been getting loads of calls lately from a Glasgow number 0141 846 0056 and also one from South Shields, 0191 622 3477. Each time they leave a message saying they need to urgently talk to the Administrator or Treasurer about our energy bill. They always ask to ring them back on "my direct number" 0141 628 6639, but I've spoke to at least three different folks from that number. Definitely some sort of scam since we always handle things with our energy provider directly.

I was out and about when I received the call. The voice on the message struck me as that of an Eastern European woman. She mentioned the church for which I serve as treasurer and indicated that she wanted to discuss one of our "accounts." She requested to speak with either myself or the church treasurer! She urged me to return her call at this number, but I chose not to. My contact information is readily available on the charity's website, and that's likely how she obtained my details. After checking the church's bank accounts, I found no unfamiliar transactions. I would never divulge any banking information over the phone, anyway. I strongly suspect this is a phishing attempt.

Got a voicemail about a property I haven’t had anything to do with for more than a decade. I called back at first to give them the right contact info, but then after seeing some reviews online, I told them I’m not connected to the property or client anymore and mentioned they can find a phone number on the official website. I also kindly asked them to take my number off their list. After that, I blocked the number just to be safe, in case they don’t respect my request and keep calling.

Got a call from some bloke asking for the owner of the business. He said he wanted to chat about getting us a better energy deal because ours was "about to finish" (which it definitely isn’t!). I told him I'd let the owner know to ring him back. They gave a callback number as 0141 628 6639 but the number they called from was 02897 178005. No chance we're calling them again! Feels like it’s a dodgy scam to me…..

This number (0141 628 8239) supposedly showed up as Microsoft support which is totally false!!! I saw a message saying I'd got a Trojan virus. When I phoned it, no one answered but I was really worried for half an hour thinking my PC was infected. Then a mate told me to check for Microsoft pop up scam and turned out it was just a con.

Someone called earlier this morning, said her name was "Emily" and wanted to talk to the "Treasurer" about the accounts for "the [Church Name redacted]." She didn’t explain what it was about, and the number she left was different from the one she rang from (she left a landline in the message but the call came from 07477865256). THIS IS A SCAM INVOLVING ENERGY BROKERS - they make money by tricking you into giving your account info, pretending to be your energy company. They might mention your address and part of your supply number, then ask you to "verify" more details because they claim their billing system is down and they need to check. They don't give up easily. If you share any info, report it to ActionFraud and CALL YOUR SUPPLIER STRAIGHT AWAY TO SET UP A PHONE PASSWORD ON YOUR ACCOUNT.

Got a voicemail from a guy called Kevin Armstrong, sounded Asian, about my church. Said it was urgent but never explained why or which company he was from. Rang me loads in quick succession from different mobile numbers - real dodgy and typical scam move. I’ve had dealings with these lot before, the landline he mentioned, 0141 628 6639, looked familiar. They say they’re part of SSE, but they trick you into making contracts without giving you any proof like a recorded copy, then say only they can be your energy broker. Totally a SCAM.

Someone rang saying they were from Total Gas and Power asking about when our church’s contract ended. If it was really TGP, surely theyd already have that info! Are any other church folks getting pestered by these callers? TGP normally provides energy to Church of England places via Parish Buying, which is the advised route. If you've got the patience and work with brokers you might snag a better deal, but for steady low prices with minimal hassle, Parish Buying usually comes out on top. I’m part of the CofE National Procurement Council myself.
