I got a call from this number, and it was some pre-recorded American woman saying my computer warranty was almost up. She told me to ring 1416286266 to sort it out, but I’m pretty sure it’s a scam.

Just got a robo call telling me there’s been some fraud detected and they’re going to cut my internet off. Problem is, I’m not even a customer with them. Bit cheeky if you ask me!

So this number rang me but bizarrely, there was nothing but dead silence when I picked up. I ended up repeating my number a couple times, hoping someone would respond, but no one did. Eventually, I just ended the call.

I got this robocall claiming to be from BT, thanking me for being a customer but then warning me they'd terminate my internet if I didn’t ring the number they provided. Funny thing is, BT is actually my internet supplier, but my connection always drops whenever a phone call comes through anyway!

Got a call from an American woman saying my internet was messed up. She asked me to press one so I could chat with an engineer.

Totally with the others here! Someone phoned, claiming to be from BT and asked me to ring them back. I’m not even a BT customer, so it was pretty obvious.

Got a voicemail saying my internet service was about to be cut off! Total scam - I've blocked the number now.

Got a robocall from a woman with an American accent claiming there was some dodgy illegal stuff going on with my computer. She told me to press 1 to speak to their "engineer." Obviously, I didn’t bother, but I bet some people might actually fall for that trick.

not long ago, an indian guy named jason smith rang me out of the blue. i’d only just got a new mobile number and this was the first unusual call i’d had. he asked me to enter [#]remotepc[###] into my computer, which i wasn’t comfortable with and said no straight away. then he told me to ring a specific number to prove he was legit. curious, i searched that number online and found loads of people questioning it too.

i got a call from someone claiming my internet connection was damaged, then changed their story to say my windows was all messed up. this "technician" named rose brown tried to sell me a new windows licence for silly prices - 140 quid for 2 years, 220 for 4 years, or 305 for a licence that covers loads of machines for 10 years. sounded like they knew their stuff, but it was just a clever trick to fool anyone not paying attention.

I had the same sort of experience as plenty of others here. Just a heads up, this is definitely a rip-off and you'll probably end up losing some cash.

Should you happen to receive a call from this number, take heed! It is linked to a nefarious gang that will inform you of a dire threat to your computer. They’ll attempt to convince you that for a charge of up to £225, they can eliminate this supposed risk. But in truth, their sinister game involves altering your computer’s password and then extorting £400 from you just to provide access again. Stay alert!

So this bloke called, said my computer’s windows was hacked or something. I told him there’s no way I’m giving info over the phone. He kept saying he didn’t need any details, though. Then I asked for his number, he gave it to me, and I said I’d have our IT guy ring him back.

Got a call from a bloke who introduced himself as Jack Watson, but he had a pretty clear Indian accent, which was a bit off. He was telling me there was something wrong with Windows on my PC, even though I'm actually running Linux. I decided to humour him for a bit, but when he started pushing me for personal details like my date of birth, I cut the call short. What really caught me off guard was the legit UK number he gave me to ring back. Considering how many people seem to be getting these calls, I’m baffled that no one’s taken action against them yet.
