I received a call from an Indian chap purporting to be with BT Openreach. It’s clearly a well-worn scam that’s been doing the rounds for ages now.

I didn’t pick up, but later got a voicemail at like 1am here in Australia. They said something about the law coming after me for some shady stuff done with my identity. They mentioned a legal order and a warrant with my name on it. They warned ignoring the message would be seen as dodging a court date with a judge or jury for a federal crime. It ended by saying this was the last warning and to press one to talk to an officer. Feels sketchy to me.

This number has called my mother-in-law at least six times today. They say they're from Virgin Media support, telling her there's a refund waiting and she needs to get a new router. It’s just a nasty scam targeting vulnerable people. Really awful.

His english woz really bad. He claimed to be from Btreach and said my broadband had faults being recorded. I told him there’s no issue and i’m not a BT customer. I hung up on him before he finished sayin they had problems with my connection.

watch out, this is definitely a con! They try to get you to share your router info, then since they already have your number, they somehow put a bug on your line. After that, they demand money to "fix" the problem. These scammers operate from india, so the police here in the uk can't really do much. Just be careful folks!

The bloke’s English was pretty rubbish when he asked for my name, which I gave him correctly. But as soon as I told him “if this is some survey, I’m not interested”, he suddenly got all rude and I just ended the call there.

They called saying they could cover our appliances with insurance and asked for our bank info. Luckily my husband played along and fed them made-up details about our electrical stuff, then even threw in his library card number for good measure.
