Some woman rang me up saying she was from BT, but I reckon it was a total scam.

Got a call from a woman with an American accent, claiming she’s from BT, saying my internet would be disconnected soon unless I press a button on my phone to find out more. She rang me again yesterday but from another number. Don’t ever press any buttons, just end the call. These lot earn cash from folks who listen to their pre-recorded message via premium rate numbers. The officials seem totally useless when it comes to dealing with this wave of landline scams.

I didn’t push any buttons but just stayed on the line for a bit then some guy with an Indian accent said it was BT. I ended the call straight away. The number I got was 0141 560 5472, but I also had a similar message from a mobile starting with 098.
