This bloke rang my desk landline at work, said he was with Virgin Media. I told him he was calling a police station and that’s when he started hurling abuse, even saying some shocking stuff about liking to assault women. Proper disturbing. I received a call from a woman, presumably Asian, presenting herself as a representative from Amazon. She informed me that an order for an iPhone 7 had been placed using my account for a hefty charge of £399. The catch is, I don’t have an account with them at all! Strangely, she then asked for my mobile number so she could send me a verification code, despite her claim of already having all my personal information. Quite the suspicious situation, if you ask me!

Got calls on back to back days from a bloke with what sounded like an Asian accent saying someone was tryin to get into my wife’s Amazon account to buy an iPhone 11. On the first day, we told him my wife doesn’t even have an Amazon account. The next day, he mentioned our UK landline wasn’t linked to that account either. The guy was really pushy and sounded quite sure of himself. Had a proper look at the Amazon account afterwards and yeah, total SCAM.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from Amazon’s Security Team about a dodgy order made with my info. They said my account had been hacked and it was a big emergency. Got a call claiming to be from Amazon Prime, they asked if I was on Android and to check my phone. I was suspicious straight away, so I played along. Eventually, I got passed on to a supervisor, and everyone sounded like they had an Indian accent. They ended up just hanging up on me. I said I’d cancel Prime myself online, but they insisted only half the fee would be refunded that way and said I had to cancel through them. Funny thing is, I don’t even have an Amazon Prime account!

Got calls from Virgin Media two times within 48 hours. I played along for a bit, then when they told me to open the RUN box and type in a URL, they asked what popped up. I answered “a website” and they said, “what’s on it?” I told them there’s some big bold text saying, ‘HOW DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT!’ Funny enough, I ended up having to reach out to Virgin Media myself just to get the number blocked.

I received a call supposedly from Amazon, inquiring whether I consented to a charge of £380 for an iPhone. When I probed further about which account they were referring to, they abruptly disconnected the call! Seems dodgy!

I received a call from someone claiming to be from "Amazon Prime," stating there was a 'suspected fraudulent charge' of £179. They inquired if I intended to move forward with this payment. Strangely, they couldn't even share my account name or any specific details, citing 'data protection' as the reason. Quite suspicious if you ask me!

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent saying they were calling about an internet issue with Virgin Media (totally not true). They wanted me to check the lights on my router. Sadly, the call dropped before I could mess around and keep them busy. Then the same number rang back after a bit, but I just hung up straight away.

Some bloke called saying he was from Virgin Media, trying to find out how many gadgets I had hooked up to the internet because they said there was “suspicious activity” recently. Sounds fishy to me, so I just let him talk for a bit, then asked for his contact details so I could ring him back to confirm he was legit. He hung up straight away. Later, I dialled 1471 to grab the number and looked it up here.

I picked up and all I could hear was the typical racket you get at a call centre. No one said anything at first, then a guy with a foreign accent just said "yeah" and cut the call off.

No answer when I picked up, just silence. Looks like these calls are from a bunch of dodgy people, judging by the many complaints I've seen. I've blocked the number now.
