She asked me to confirm my name and then told me my address, before asking for my date of birth to check I was the account holder. The reason given was to set up a smart meter installation. Since I’ve received loads of emails about getting one, I didn’t think much of it. She mentioned something about the diary not being available or not having enough dates (I can’t really remember exactly what she said, but it sounded believable), so she booked a callback for two days later on Friday to arrange an appointment. But, unsurprisingly, I never got that call back. I’m not sure if the whole thing was legit but just badly managed, or if it’s actually a scam - though I’m leaning towards the latter. I’ll update this if I find out it was real or if anything dodgy happens.

On 6th November 2023, I missed a call that rang through. This isn’t an isolated thing; after I was checking out a small electric heater ad on YouTube a while back, I started getting calls from all sorts of numbers. I never actually bought the heater, but I did begin filling out their online order form with my info - name, email, phone - luckily I didn’t input my card details. Despite not completing the purchase, I ended up receiving some emails from that company. Once the emails stopped, the calls kept coming in from different numbers. My phone number is on the TPS list, but those calls keep coming, so it’s clear they’re just scammers ignoring the rules. Now, I just block any unknown caller unless I’m expecting someone to ring.

Just got a call from someone claiming they wanted to install a smart meter. When I told them I wasn’t interested, they said I was refusing to have the right equipment and asked for my details. I ended up hanging up... could’ve been anyone trying to record my voice and get more info. I wish I'd just cut the call earlier, had to be quite firm with saying no because they kept pushing and questioning me!
