I got a call from a woman called Amy Lowe who said she was ringing from Consumer Watch UK. A quick Google search showed a dodgy-looking site with a Scottish company number. I asked her for the company registration number and she said “Alright”. A couple of minutes later she returned with the number from that suspicious site. I then pointed out it was a Scottish registration and asked for the UK companies house number. She hesitated a bit, then awkwardly said “Thanks for your time” and hung up.

I told them I wasn’t interested in switching energy providers and asked politely for the calls to stop. The bloke on the other end was pretty cheeky. Got a call from a woman with an asian accent about some energy thing. I live with my mum so I figured this was dodgy straight away. I asked where they got my number from and she then put me through to a bloke who also sounded asian. Seemed totally like a scam to me. When I tried to get info on how they got my details under data protection rules, they just mumbled rubbish and wanted my email to “send info”. I refused, said that must be illegal. Proper nasty guy.
