Had a call from a lady about loft insulation and some energy check I never asked for. She didn’t seem to know my full address but she called me by my first name. She was definitely fishing for info, probably to sell something to do with insulation or energy savings. Seemed really dodgy, felt like a classic cold call scam to me.

I received a dodgy call purporting to be from a number that seemed to originate in Glasgow, though I'm fairly certain they’re operating from a different location entirely. The caller claimed to represent O2, even going as far as to offer me some sort of discount on my bills until my contract's conclusion. However, as I don’t actually have an account with O2, I obviously couldn't take advantage of such a brilliant deal! Be wary, as I believe these individuals are nothing but scammers trying to pull a fast one!

01415010261 called me twice in a row, only seconds apart. The first call came from 01615247677, I hung up straight away, but then they rang back asking why I’d ended the call. The first one felt dodgy (came from Manchester), and when they called back from Glasgow it really confirmed it was a scam. Watch out everyone. The lady on the line spoke with a strong Asian accent, seemed Indian to me, and her English wasn’t very clear. There was also loads of background noise on both calls.

I received a phone call from someone who purported to be from my internet service provider, but she didn’t mention which company it was. Got a call claiming to be from my mobile provider (Three). They said they wanted to offer me a discount for sticking with them. They asked how much my monthly bill is, then said they’d send the offer info by post or email. When I asked for my postcode, I mentioned they should already have it, but they said they're part of a promotions team and don't have access to customer data. I requested a callback number, but they said I couldn’t have one. Pretty obvious they’re either gathering info or trying to scam.

I got a call today from someone saying they were from o2 with a special offer. When I started asking questions, they just kept putting me through to different people. Somehow, they already had my bank sort code, account number, and info from my o2 contract. They even managed to change my o2 app password. I had to get in touch with o2 to sort everything out and also told my bank about it. No idea how they got all my details. The more I asked, the more they passed me around, then they finally hung up. I called o2 afterwards and they confirmed it was a scam.

I received a phone call purporting to be from my mobile provider, Three. They claimed they wanted to reward my loyalty with a special discount. They prompted me to disclose my monthly bill amount and mentioned they'd send the offer details through either letter or email. When they requested my postcode, I pointed out that they should already have that info on file. To that, they replied they were from the promotions team and didn’t have access to customer records. I then asked for a number to return their call, but they insisted that wasn’t an option. It feels like they're fishing for personal details, or potentially worse - I suspect it might be a scam.

Said they were from 02, but had a really thick Asian accent that was hard to make out. Ended up blocking the number.

They were trying to pass off as O2 - best thing is to just ignore and hang up!

Didn’t pick up cause the number wasn’t familiar.

Clearly a dodgy O2 scam.

Got a dodgy call from a lady with an Indian accent saying she was from “auto” whatever. As soon as I asked where she got my number, she just ended the call.

Rang me twice in a few mins. It showed Glasgow but the voice sounded like one of those call centres, then they just cut off. Pretty sure it’s some kind of scam!

They said they were from Three but didn’t even know my email. When I asked about my last bill, they couldn’t answer. Then they offered an iPhone 14 Pro Max with unlimited data for just £30 a month over 24 months. I asked if they had an iPhone 15 Pro Max, and they said yes, for £40 a month. Sounds cheaper than buying direct from Apple! Totally a scam though, they speak so quickly and don’t let you get a word in.

Someone pretending to be O2 said they had a discount for me. They wanted me to answer security questions and give bank details. They even faked a text from O2 and sent me an email saying I asked for a password reset. The caller had a very thick Indian accent, which made it easy to spot the scam.

Started receiving calls yesterday from Glasgow 0141 501 0904 - blocked that number and now today getting calls from 0141 501 0261 - blocked them too. Seems like more calls from different Glasgow numbers will follow. They’re not even bothering to leave a voicemail, so clearly nothing important.

He rang me a couple of times and I told him straight it’s a scam and not to bother calling back. Is there any chance these numbers can be tracked down and some action taken? They’ve gotta be sourcing the numbers from somewhere, so why aren’t those selling them held responsible? I’m annoyed by the calls myself, but what worries me more is those who might actually believe this nonsense and get caught out.

Blimey, this number seems to be popping up everywhere. I've just sent a report to 7726, which I understand is O2's number for dealing with spam calls. They’ll probably add it to their blocklist and hopefully stop it from ringing anyone else.

I've been contacted by a dodgy individual purporting to represent O2. They attempt to manipulate you into sharing your verification code, claiming it’s necessary for account verification. Beware of these tactics!

I received two messages purporting to be from O2, touting a 30% discount. Oddly enough, they requested a verification code, the very one that cautioned me against sharing it with anyone, including O2 employees! Quite concerning, if you ask me.

Received a rather dodgy call claiming to be from my mobile provider. The chap on the line promised me a staggering 40% off my contract. He then inquired about my monthly bill (which I thought they ought to have on file). I replied it was £110, to which he suggested a new rate of £90. I pointed out that doesn’t quite add up to a 40% discount, does it? Then he asked me to hold on, having pleaded with me not to hang up at least seven times. Eventually, a woman comes on the line and asks me what colour phone I'd fancy. Next, she wanted to know how to spell my first name. If this were truly my provider reaching out, surely they’d already know how to spell John, wouldn’t they? Absolute muppets!

This number keeps ringing me non-stop the last few days. Luckily, my Samsung shows caller ID and blocks spam, so I never had to chat with these jokers. I’m guessing lots of other phones have something like this too - just have a look in your phone app settings. If you’re on a Samsung, do yourself a favour and switch it on: open the phone app > go to Recents > tap the three dots > go to settings > enable Caller ID and spam protection.

Received a call purporting to be from O2, asserting I was eligible for a 40% discount on my bill. They began probing for my personal information. I played along and fed them incorrect details, yet they accepted them as though everything was in order. If they truly were O2, they would have realised I was feeding them a load of rubbish. What a bunch of numpties!

I've been getting an incessant stream of calls from this number over the last couple of days. Fortunately, my Samsung is equipped with caller ID and spam filtering, which means I've managed to avoid engaging with these numpties. I'm certain other mobile devices offer comparable features-just have a rummage through your phone app settings. If you happen to own a Samsung, I highly recommend activating this function. Just follow these steps: Open the phone app, tap on Recents, hit the three dots in the corner, navigate to settings, and enable Caller ID and spam protection. Trust me, it’s worth it!
