I got a call from someone saying he was Jack, speaking with a sort of Asian accent, warning me that my Sky maintenance deal was running out soon. I played along and kept him on the line ages, asking where he was from - he kept changing it, one minute it was Dubai then suddenly London. We had a bit of a chat about the weather and stuff too. Eventually, I lost interest and hung up. I’ve since blocked the number.

Had a woman on the phone claiming to be from Sky's TV maintenance team or something along those lines. I’m registered with TPS, so they really shouldn’t have been calling me. When I asked how they found my number, she just stuck to her script and wouldn't answer. Ended up hanging up on her. I got a call on my home phone earlier from a number I didn’t recognise, the area code was unfamiliar too. I just let the voicemail pick it up instead of answering. Weirdly, the caller hung up before the message started and didn’t stick around to leave anything. I never answer calls from strangers and always check the number first. If it’s legit, they usually say who they are and leave a message, so I just ignore anything suspicious.

Yesterday I got a call from this number but they didn’t leave any voicemail. I checked the number by dialing 1471. Decided to block it straight away.

Someone rang me but ended up cutting off the call after I simply said “hello” quite briefly. If you get a call out of the blue, best not to give away your number or personal details straight away. Most legitimate people will get that you’re being careful and won’t push it. And if it’s someone you actually know, they’ll reach out another way or try to sort things properly later on. I marked mine as neutral because the caller didn’t bother to keep the conversation going at all.

He was trying to get me to renew some sort of maintenance deal on my SKY box. I told him I haven’t had SKY for well over a decade, so why would I need cover for a box I don’t even have? He then insists, “Are you absolutely certain? You’re still paying SKY every month.” I was like, “No chance, mate. I don’t have a SKY box and I stopped the subscription years ago.” Hung up on him pretty sharpish - total con artist!

Got a call from a very polite woman with a foreign accent, asking me about a car crash they said I’d been in. I was totally clueless about any accident, so I just laughed and figured it was some kind of joke. It was Christmas time, so I told her to give it a rest, that I wasn’t buying it.
