Got a call from a lady speaking with a strong Indian accent. She said she was ringing on behalf of N-Power and mentioned they had recorded the wrong postcode, assuring me I wouldn’t be billed for it. She kept pressing me to confirm my Mpan numbers, claiming she already had some digits but needed the full details. I refused to provide anything else, and she began getting quite insistent. At that point, I just ended the call. These sorts of calls keep coming, but always from different phone numbers.

Then they started asking loads about the gas meter too. When I asked for the password we’ve set up on the real EON account, the person kept saying “we’re only meter readers, we don’t need that.” Yeah, well you’d need it if you’re gonna talk about our account, so I just ended the call.

Absolutely dodgy individuals! They contacted our office claiming to represent OPUS ENERGY. They had all our business information and our supply number's last digits, but then they asked for the first few digits to verify it. It all sounded rather shifty, so I provided a false one, and surprise surprise, he accepted it. He truly revealed his lack of knowledge when he inquired about the gas supply number-seeing as we only utilise electricity. I told him they clearly weren’t OPUS, and he abruptly ended the call. Total scammers!

Some bloke pretending to be from British Gas called me. When I said I didn’t want any more calls, he rudely replied with a swear and then kept ringing me about eight more times. Proper annoying!

I got a call from someone saying they were meter readers from E-On Energy. When I asked several questions and they clearly didn’t have a clue, I told them they were probably scammers and ended the call. I think it’s the same lot who bothered us a few months ago, pretending to be from Npower!

Someone phoned claiming to be from EDF, saying our postcode was wrong so we shouldn't send in a meter reading. They wanted us to give our billing info to check everything was correct.

This bloke said he was trying to get hold of the accounts team for some other firm. He claimed he was ringing from Scottish Gas and that they were my gas supplier. When I asked who exactly he wanted to speak to, he acted like he didn’t catch what I said and just kept asking for Accounts Payable.

Got a call from someone claiming to be British Gas, saying there was a mistake on our bill. They wanted me to read out loads of details from the invoice like the MPAN number. When I asked why they needed it, they just said it was to fix the meter reading. They rang back again later but I just hung up on them.

They claimed to be calling from British Gas and told me I had a massive bill to pay because they’d apparently taken a meter reading from the wrong house. They asked me for the actual reading. I felt a bit iffy about it and said I couldn’t check right away. Then they warned me if I tried calling back, I’d be stuck on hold for about 40 minutes. They offered to phone me again later. I said yes, then managed to look up what had been said before using this number.

Got a call from someone saying they were from our power company and there was an issue with the billing due to an incorrect meter reading. They asked loads of questions about our meter and usage. It sounded dodgy to me so I ended up hanging up before the chat got any further. Definitely looked like a scam to try and get personal info.

Got a call from someone saying they were from Total Gas and Power Ltd. I told them we’re not customers of Total Gas and Power. I even joked that we’ve got a guy cycling around here keeping the power on and that we don’t use any meters. Seemed like they got a bit mixed up. If they call again, I’ll just say we’re with FU Ltd and see if they try to claim they’re from there instead!

They rang saying they were from Scottish Power, even quoting my meter serial number and contract info. The call dropped a few times, but they kept ringing back. The caller was really pushy, saying they had to check all the details from my bill even though I’d just set up a contract with Scottish Power. They claimed the meter readings didn’t match the bill and kept asking for meter serials, MPANs, contract start dates, and annual usage. I got in touch with Scottish Power and they confirmed it was a scam, probably someone trying to hijack our energy supply.

Some bloke with an Asian accent rang saying he was from the meter readings people, claimed there was an issue with our last reading. He then started asking loads of questions about our contract and billing, which seemed dodgy to me, so I cut him off. I called our energy supplier straight away and they said he wasn’t connected to them at all. Looks like a sneaky broker trying to get info, definitely a scam in my book.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Eon energy, sounded pretty legit and even knew some stuff about our account. They said our contract was outdated or something and asked for info from our last bill. We didn’t give any details since we didn’t have the bill handy. I asked if he wanted me to verify something he should already have, and he said yeah. Told him I was tied up at the moment, but he insisted he'd ring me again. Someone rang me claiming to be from the British Gas technical department, saying my meter reading was wrong. They even gave the meter reference and my address which made it sound legit at first. But then they started asking for details about my contract expiry and my account numbers, which I found suspicious. I told them I wasn’t comfortable and that I’d hang up and contact British Gas myself. After that, the same number called back, but this time a bloke saying he was a manager trying to convince me they were genuine. When I still refused to share my account info, he just hung up on me.

Someone called saying they were "Alex" from my energy company. They told me there was some issue with the meter readings nearby and even mentioned my postcode, then asked me to read out the meter serial numbers. It sounded just like a scam I got about a fortnight ago, except that time the caller ID was private and they said I'd get a refund instead! I ended the call right away and informed my energy provider about it.

Got a call from someone saying they were with British Gas. It was a woman with a strong Indian accent, hard to understand, who claimed they had to check our electric meter because the postcode was apparently wrong. She wanted the meter number, but I told her to send me something in writing since my internet wasn’t working. She told me to just use my smartphone, but there’s no signal here, so I asked her to post a letter instead. She said she’d call again tomorrow!

Got a call from some bloke overseas. The line was really bad, kept having to ask him to say again. He said he was with a company that reads meters and reckoned their reader messed up and we’d be charged too much. He wanted me to find our bill and send it over. I said I was tied up, but he kept pushing for it. In the end, I just hung up.
