Got a call from someone talking about my utility contracts. The voice sounded foreign and it just felt dodgy, so I hung up straight away. Definitely seemed like some kind of scam.

I got a call on my home phone the other day from someone claiming to be from a charity offering to help cut energy bills for Village Halls. They wanted to speak to the person handling energy accounts there. The woman said her name was Daisy but didn’t say which charity she was with. When I asked for a ballpark figure based on our yearly usage to see if it stacked up against what our energy advisor suggested, she handed me over to a bloke who said I should email over an energy bill for them to look at. Seemed a bit off to me, so I wasn’t impressed and ended up blocking the number.

Got a call from someone saying they were with Total Gas and Energy, which is who our supplier actually is. They even told us a 4-digit number, saying it was the last part of our meter number. Seems like they got that info from some national database, same as the real meter records. But then they went on asking for details they should already have if they really worked for Total. Didn't feel right so I just ended the call.

Nikal just won’t give up, keeps ringing saying it’s about cutting down energy costs for our Church trust. They won’t stop pestering me. Received a call purporting to be from some farming energy company, targeting us as private farmers and trying to discuss renewing our energy supplier. They were quite keen on getting a copy of our latest bill, despite the fact we’re locked into a fixed contract until 2024, making any renewal pointless. I got a call from a man with an Asian accent claiming he was representing the local village hall’s charities and some electricity companies. Things didn’t feel right when he messed up the date for when our contract ends and asked me for the real one. He also asked for my email, but I didn’t want to give it out. When I questioned him more about who he was and the company he worked for, he quickly caught on I wasn’t going to play along and just said goodbye.

The number was unfamiliar and since I’m ex directory, I just let it keep ringing. Afterwards, I looked it up online. Seeing what others have written here, I’m really happy I didn’t pick up.

I didn’t have a clue who was calling, so I just let it ring till it went to voicemail. Then, it left this super long, completely silent voicemail - lasted almost two minutes. Pretty sure it was some sort of robocall.

Got a call from someone who was definitely trying to scam me.

I got a call about my electricity contract coming up for renewal, but it's way too soon since I still have like 18 months left! You could hear all the usual scam call centre chatter in the background. Then the person switched to trying to sell me cheaper rates with my current provider, but when I pressed them, they hardly knew anything and even mentioned a company we switched from over two years ago. Seems like their scam list is really outdated and they’re just trying to fish for details.
