I received a rather intriguing call from a company named ESI (Energy Saving Insulation Scotland), who informed me that I hadn’t taken advantage of the government grant for loft insulation. They indicated, based on some rudimentary information I provided, that I could be eligible for a whopping 70% grant. They even scheduled an inspector to swing by the following day. However, upon searching for their website, I came up empty. After looking into the government’s grant eligibility criteria, it became apparent that I didn’t actually qualify. When I tried to ring them back, the number wouldn’t connect. The inspector did reach out the next day prior to his visit, which allowed me to gather some extra information about ESI before I decided to cancel. I noted down their address: Garscadden House, Dalsetter Crescent, Glasgow, and their phone number is 01412742102. While I don’t have any cause to suspect they’re a scam, I do take issue with receiving unsolicited calls, especially since I’m on the Telephone Preference Service list. I have lodged a formal complaint with the TPS and am now awaiting their response.

Received a rather unexpected cold call that raised my eyebrows, but after reading some positive feedback on this site, I decided to take the plunge. Ended up with a complimentary boiler-absolutely delighted! The chap I spoke to was called David, and I must say the service was quite commendable. The number in question was 0141 274 2108.

Absolutely brilliant company; I couldn't be more thrilled with the assistance I got! At first, I was a bit taken aback by the cold calls, but when their surveyor came round, he was incredibly knowledgeable and professional. To my surprise, they informed me that loft insulation would be done at no expense whatsoever! Naturally, being the cautious type, I rang their office at 0141 274 2100 to double-check, and the staff were lovely and so accommodating; they reaffirmed there'd be no charges involved! The work was completed three weeks ago, and I can honestly say my home feels much cozier now.

After I submitted my report on Monday, 25th June 2012, a surveyor turned up to assess the issue the following Monday. He mentioned he would dispatch a team promptly, but it took me ringing them on the Friday to express my frustration at the lack of progress before they finally sent someone out. Remarkably, two more chaps showed up within just 20 minutes! I briefed them on the situation and made it clear I expected resolution or I’d have to pull everything out myself. Their response? "We can't take it out now, that would create a right mess." Seriously? Are they trying to imply it could be worse than the utter chaos it already is? It took them all of five minutes to slap a panel pin and some draught-proofing plastic around the hatch, and then off they went, claiming they’d resolved everything. But when I checked, all my stored belongings were still in a right state - even the hamster’s entire setup was still in disarray! As I've mentioned before, even if it’s free, it’s certainly not worth the grief. Looks like I’ll have to tackle the mess myself; I deeply regret getting involved with them in the first place.

Following numerous calls from this outfit and after perusing the information on this site, I decided to ring the number provided (0141 438 2102). I was promptly connected to their administrative team. I asked them to remove my number from their database, and the lady on the line kindly provided me with the direct contact details for David and Kirk, who manage the call centre; their number is 0141 438 2187. I've made it clear that I wish to be taken off their distribution list, and David assured me that I would be added to the TPS list. Fingers crossed, I hope this will put an end to those pesky calls!

My neighbour recently had a chap from Heat & Home come round to give a quote for four oil-filled heaters. He seemed rather unsure about both the pricing and the company’s details, and I suspect he was just a telemarketer. The price they mentioned was an eye-watering £2,500! They were offering to remove the current heating system and install new sockets, which is a hefty sum, especially for a three-flat terrace. Is this sort of price typical? After going through all the information shared here, I think we might advise her against pursuing this further. Would we be making the right call?

Received an unsolicited call claiming we might qualify for government grants (which, just to be clear, we don’t). They mentioned an assessor would reach out to us. I've scoured the web and discovered an address at 90 Mitchell Street, Glasgow, but can't find any contact number associated with it. The number they provided doesn't even match the G1 area code. I attempted to call but there was no response. I'll have another go at 0141 438 2187 to sort out the cancellation of this visit.

I recently received a call from this number that I unfortunately missed, so I decided to look it up on this site to ascertain whether it was just another annoying sales pitch. I appreciate the service! Although I’m registered with the Telephone Preference Service, it seems to make little difference these days. I've noticed quite a bit of feedback regarding this company's services, and I must say that experiences can vary widely depending on who you speak with - it's like having two entirely different customer service teams! If it’s of any help, you might want to visit the Energy Savings Trust website, which is an official source for information on available grants and more. You can even give them a ring to find out exactly what you might qualify for, among other useful details.

I received a call from a woman named Siobhann claiming to be affiliated with "the government grant scheme," and to my astonishment, she stated that she was a government employee. Surprisingly enough, she later revealed that she worked for ESI. As someone whose details are ex-directory and who is also registered with the TPS, I was baffled when she insisted that she obtained my number from some sort of government database. After the call, I rang the number 0141 247 2100 and they assured me they would remove my details from their system. Strangely, they inquired about how I got hold of the 2100 number-I jokingly mentioned that it came from a government database!

I received multiple calls from this number before I finally decided to answer. Initially, the caller was inquiring about the previous owner by name. After clarifying that situation, the lass on the line informed me she was representing ESI Scotland and mentioned that we might qualify for a government grant scheme aimed at loft insulation. I tentatively agreed to have a surveyor visit. However, my husband was adamant that it wasn't necessary and advised me to cancel the appointment. I made several attempts to reach them using the number they'd provided, 01414382187, but it was just a continuous ring with no answer. After scouring this site, I tried a different number, 01412742102, and to my relief, I was connected straight away. The representative was lovely and didn’t pry into why I had cancelled. I'm just crossing my fingers that I won't have any unexpected visitors at my home later today.

I received an unsolicited call concerning loft insulation, and it was quite frustrating as they kept interrupting me. I attempted to explain that our loft was already floored and fully insulated, but they insisted they could install insulation on top of that to meet government regulations, claiming I could still use a third of the remaining space for storage. They presented themselves as government representatives, which apparently exempted them from the Telephone Preference Service. When I asked to speak to a manager, a chap named David took over, but he just sided with the woman on the line, who appeared to have an uncanny knowledge of our property details. I even checked out their website and tried ringing the landline listed, but it just rang out without an answer!

The business in question is ESI (Scotland) Limited, and you can find their site at www.esiscotland.co.uk. If you’re curious about their legitimacy, take a peek at companycheck.co.uk/company/SC376867. It seems to me that they might be involved in a bit of trickery, offering you a fraction of the generous grant that’s actually available while pocketing the full amount from the government. I’d recommend steering clear of them and opting for the reputable Scottish government-endorsed organisation, Energy Saving Trust. Their website is www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/scotland/Take-action/Home-Energy-Scotland, and if you need to reach out, you can call them at 0800 512 012.

I received a rather unexpected call from this firm regarding a survey for loft insulation. Considering my loft had suffered a fire a few months back, I was in need of help since all the old glass fibre insulation between the joists had to be replaced due to water damage. When the surveyor arrived, the documentation indicated that I would need around 28 square metres of insulation. However, when the work crew arrived the following day, they turned up in an unmarked white van. Three young lads stepped inside, took a quick glance at the loft, then headed back to the van. They emerged carrying just two rolls of insulation-each roll only covering 4 square metres, mind you. Instead of providing adequate coverage, they merely laid the rolls over the joists without addressing any gap filling or pipe insulation. In fact, they even ripped off two strips from another roll for good measure, tossed a seal around the hatch, and that was that. They were in and out in a mere 10 minutes! Can you believe it? When they asked me to sign the paperwork, I stood my ground and told them to get lost. Avoid these lot at all costs; they’re a bunch of cowboys!

I received a chilly call today, much like many of you have experienced. My house has seen better days, and I thought it prudent to look into improving the insulation. The young lady on the other end assured me it would only take a quarter of an hour, but given that my neighbour had theirs completed with great fuss and fanfare over the course of a day, I was sceptical. She reassured me that they'd do a thorough job regardless of the time taken. Fast forward to this morning, two chaps turned up in a van, announcing to my husband that it would indeed just take 15 minutes. Naturally, I raised an eyebrow at that. Once they wrapped up, they handed me a form to sign, but I insisted on reviewing their work first. Frankly, it was dreadful-just as others have mentioned. The few areas I couldn't access, which I asked them to address, were merely plastered over without a second thought. The insulation work was haphazard at best; it looked as if it was simply tossed up without any care to fit it properly between the joists. Refusing to put my name to their shoddy effort, I watched them depart in a huff. I truly wish I had conducted a bit more research beforehand!

I've had a pair of calls today from 0141 438 2187. When I answered, the caller asked whether I’d had my new boiler fitted yet, claiming it was free of charge due to a government grant. Curious, I requested the company’s name, and they mentioned "ESI Scotland." I made it clear I wasn’t comfortable sharing any personal information they were after, and the woman on the line-whose name I didn’t catch-cut the call short. Determined to get to the bottom of it, I rang back to inquire how they obtained my number, especially since I’m registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS). The response was that they weren’t pushing any sales. I pointed out that TPS covers all marketing calls, and she apologised, assuring me she would have my number taken off their contact list. I've since lodged a formal complaint with the TPS.

The loft insulation was piled a good foot above the joists - not once did they put a finger on the stuff I had stored up there! They didn’t bother to move anything and instead just tossed everything about in under twenty minutes. Do yourself a favour and steer clear of this lot, even if it's offered for free - it’s simply not worth the hassle!

I received a call from someone trying to reach the owner of the number I answered. The usual routine happened, with them asking if they were speaking to Mrs. xxx. I responded with a simple "no," and next came the question about the postcode xxx xxx, to which I admitted the truth. I waited for them to seek my consent to continue the conversation, but instead, they dived right into that tiresome story about the Government providing them with my number. Honestly, I’m quite fed up with their lack of common sense. When I pressed them about whether they'd checked the Telephone Preference Service, they claimed it wasn't a sales call. Clearly, they hadn’t done their homework, as if they had, they would know better. I explained that their business thrives on leads, which means it’s a sales call - no leads, no sales. The poor soul at the other end sounded completely puzzled. It's as if they think we’re all gullible. I’m aware that some of these companies were once subcontracted by the Wyse group, yet I’ve never gotten a satisfactory explanation regarding how they obtained my number, particularly since it’s ex-directory and registered with TPS. Perhaps someone could shed some light on this? I reckon it’s time for us to collectively email the judge about these numbers being released despite being on TPS, so that no company benefits from a free advertisement.
