Just had yet another bothersome call regarding energy grants. I informed the woman that I've registered with the Telephone Preference Service and that these sorts of calls are not permitted. I cautioned her that her company could face a penalty for contacting me. To my astonishment, she suggested that I should reach out to my telecom provider if I wish to halt such interruptions! Quite baffling, really.

I first received a call from Global Energy, who spun quite the tale about energy grants. Following that, I was bombarded with multiple calls from Hot House Energy in Glasgow, attempting to peddle their exorbitantly priced solar panels to those who clearly have no interest.

Has anyone else encountered Hot House Energy in Glasgow? Seems like they're a bunch of energy sales folks pushing solar panels. They ask all sorts of questions about the type of house you have, whether your heating comes from gas or oil, and then somehow declare you eligible for their solar panel deal. Next, they'll have someone else ring you incessantly to persuade you to commit to a purchase. Honestly, registering with TPS feels utterly pointless, doesn’t it?

If you’re fortunate enough to have calls at no extra charge during the weekends and evenings (like with BT), I suggest giving them a ring back, prefixing the number with 141. Politely remind them to check the TPS website prior to making any calls. Should they request your postcode, politely decline to provide it. The same goes for your phone number or any personal details - just maintain that they must refer to the TPS website before contacting anyone. If they start to interrupt, keep repeating “Please don’t interrupt me, hear me out” until they pause, then reiterate the need for them to check the TPS site before dialling any number. If they attempt to justify their actions by claiming an exemption due to being a marketing company, disregard their arguments completely. Just stand firm and repeat that they must check TPS. That’s precisely why we all register with TPS; we want to avoid these unsolicited calls. If enough of us take this stance, perhaps those companies will grow weary of the situation and actually start consulting the TPS before making calls, as they are obliged to do.

A company focused on energy conservation seems to be peddling "complimentary" insulation, along with solar panel installations and other similar products.

Received two calls from them today, what a right nuisance! They just don't know when to back off, do they?

It's absolutely outrageous that we have to deal with these nuisance calls. They ought to be banned outright! I reckon it would be brilliant if there existed a platform dedicated to logging these bothersome calls, allowing us to flag them for legal action.

Hothouse Energy - 161 Broad Street, Glasgow G40 2QW They profess to be champions of energy efficiency, yet they're the first in a long while to actually provide a phone number and an address. Seems rather naïve, don’t you think?

A couple of months back, I received a phone call from this number, only to find out it wasn’t intended for me. Ever since that conversation, I’ve been plagued by their relentless calls-twice a day and at all sorts of odd times. I even reached out to them on two separate instances, asking them to cease this incessant nuisance. Yet, the calls keep coming. I highly advise steering clear of Hot House Energy-just not worth the hassle!

I received a call from this number earlier this evening at 8:20, but there was complete silence on the other end. If they happen to ring again, I reckon I’ll pick up and say, “Hello, you’ve reached Dunfermline police station.”

Crikey! I've been getting these calls where I pick up, and the other end just goes silent. They hang around for a bit without uttering a word, then vanish for a while, only to reappear weeks later doing the same annoying thing. It’s beyond irritating, honestly!

Whenever I pick up that call, the moment I hear a voice, I simply hang up. You might call it impolite, but honestly, I think they’re the ones disrespecting my time. Straight after, I add the number to my blocked list. At least this way, they’ll still rack up the call charges due to the connection from my voicemail. Onwards and upwards, with a cheeky salute!

I received a rather forceful voicemail from a Scottish woman, demanding I ring back without offering any context-clever little trick, that! They requested I return the call to an 0845 number (0845 0304489, if you're curious). Honestly, who in their right mind would ring a premium rate line only to be pestered about some sales pitch? Quite absurd, really!
