9 yearsA chap from India rang me up earlier, rather confusing about which energy provider he represented. He seemed to float between Of Gen and National Grid before settling on Eon. He kicked off by claiming I had overpaid on my gas and electricity bills - getting cheeky, he mentioned that I was due a refund of £285. However, he got a bit flustered when I explained that I don’t even use mains gas! Then, he suddenly mentioned it was a legal obligation for me to replace my supposedly outdated meters. I can’t quite fathom how he thought he was going to bilk me out of cash, but it was clearly his intention! I reckon there are folks who might fall prey to this sort of nonsense, but honestly, who can be that gullible? A crucial piece of advice - NEVER disclose any personal information over the phone. Not your name, not your energy provider, not your address-absolutely nothing! If it’s truly a legal matter, they’ll follow up with something in writing.IndiaGenNational GridEonNEVER9 yearsI received a phone call from someone claiming to be from an Indian company. It felt very much like a scam! They pretended to represent EON energy, insisting that my electric meter was outdated. They went so far as to say it would be illegal if I didn't get it replaced. Naturally, my instincts kicked in when they started asking for my personal information. I demanded to know their contact number, which they provided, but I had already made up my mind and firmly rejected their advances. Date of the incident? 8th August 2017.EON9 yearsHad a rather dubious phone call from an Indian chap claiming to represent EON Energy. He spun some yarn about my electric meter being outdated and went on about it being against the law if I didn't get it sorted. As soon as he asked for my personal information, it raised my eyebrows. I requested a contact number from him, and as soon as he gave it, I firmly put him in his place. Watch out for these scams! Date of the incident: 8th August 2017.EON Energy9 yearsEvery time they ring up, it's like speaking to a completely different person. It feels a bit dodgy, if you ask me. The most recent caller claimed to be representing an "electricity and gas company." I probed a bit further, asking for the firm's name, and he blurted out "NPower" before going off on a tangent about a supposed 25% discount. I made it clear we weren’t keen on it and promptly ended the call.9 yearsThere’s this bloke, sounds like he hails from India, ringing me up, purporting to represent some sort of energy firm. He insists that I need to provide my meter readings, suggesting I’m being fleeced through inflated bills from my existing supplier. But here’s the kicker - he hasn’t the foggiest notion of who my actual supplier is! He’s peddling this line about slashing my bill by a whopping 25%, yet again, he can’t name my current provider. The persistence is rather alarming, as he’s been hounding me with four calls in just two days. I can’t help but wonder, at what point does this become harassment? It’s downright off-putting!India9 yearsI recently received a rather unsettling call from a gentleman with an Indian accent. He inquired about the business owner, to which I replied that they weren't in at the moment. He then had the audacity to ask for their mobile number, but I politely explained that we can't share that kind of information. At that point, he shifted his focus and began probing for my personal mobile number. When I questioned him on why, he had the cheek to respond, “Because I fancy chatting with you on your private line.” Feeling quite uncomfortable, I told him I’d involve the authorities for what I perceived as sexual harassment, yet he seemed utterly unfazed by my warning. Ladies, do stay vigilant!10 yearsI’ve received some rather unpleasant calls from this number, with folks claiming to be from an office that begins with 'Ci' or something similar. Quite off-putting, I must say!10 yearsI've been receiving persistent calls from a rather aggressive individual claiming to represent the UK National Grid. He keeps harassing me for my personal information and his threatening language is quite concerning. It's increasingly becoming an issue since he doesn’t seem to grasp the meaning of 'no,' and continues to ring me time and again. It's really vexing!UK National GridSubmit Your Own Report (0141 416 2111)
