Today, on the 1st of October, I received a rather unsettling phone call from the number 0141 416 0168. The caller claimed to be from the Border Agency and began by stating my date of birth, which immediately put me on guard. She proceeded to request some updates regarding my entry and exit details for the past year, suggesting there was a discrepancy in their system, CISAN. I feigned uncertainty and told her I couldn’t recall those specific dates right away but could provide them by tomorrow. She then inquired when would be a suitable time to reach out again, and I suggested the same time, 1 pm. Curious about the number, I conducted a search online and discovered that it's associated with a fraudulent group notorious for attempting to extract personal information through deceitful tactics. Their ruses often involve warning individuals of alleged issues with their immigration status or introducing fabricated obstacles to create a sense of urgency. If they sense you’re anxious, they'll position themselves as your only hope, eventually pushing for a transfer of money to resolve your nonexistent problems. It’s quite the web they weave, preying on the unsuspecting and vulnerable.

Earlier today (1st October), I received a call from the number 0141 416 0168. The voice on the line claimed to be from the Border Agency and had the audacity to reel off my date of birth. She went on to say, "We're looking to update some details regarding your entries and exits over the past year, as we've found discrepancies in our records." When I expressed that I couldn’t recall those dates off the top of my head, she pressed on, suggesting she could ring me back tomorrow. I advised her to call around the same time (1pm) for a follow-up chat. After our conversation, I did a quick search online about the number and discovered it’s linked to a notorious scam operation that preys on unsuspecting individuals by weaving elaborate tales designed to extract personal information and ultimately swindle money. Their tactics often include claiming that your date of birth is incorrectly logged or that your travel details are missing from their system, or fabricating some other scenario related to immigration. If they sense that you’re feeling anxious or threatened, they’ll don the guise of a helpful saviour, pressuring you to send money to resolve these fictitious issues. It’s quite appalling how these schemes ensnare innocent people!

I received a rather puzzling call regarding my immigration number, which is quite ridiculous as I’ve been a resident of the UK since 1997 and have never been an immigrant. Quite absurd, really!
