I have been receiving calls like these for weeks now. It all started when they contacted me asking to renew a life insurance policy that I don't actually have. After telling them to go away, they now call me every other day. However, their technique is to let the phone ring for just 3 times before hanging up, not giving me enough time to answer even if I wanted to! I've decided that my next course of action is to use a call blocker.

One call claimed to be from BT using a London number, the other showed a Glasgow code and said it was Scottish Power. Did a bit of digging and found their call centre is based in Irvine, Scotland.
