I got a call from a firm calling themselves "your vehicle consultants[###]" saying they got my info from the MIB (Motor Insurance Bureau) about a car accident. I told them I’ve never had any accident. Then they said the police or maybe a third party insurance company gave them my details. I told them that can’t be right as I’ve never made a claim or had an accident. When I asked to speak to their call centre manager, they just ended the call.

He started off saying it was about a no fault accident. I asked which one and that seemed to throw him off but he carried on anyway. Then he asked for my email and I told him I don’t use one. After a silence, I asked again which accident he meant (I haven’t been in any). He said it was a hit and run this time. Asked once more which one it was and he started rattling off some DPA stuff, saying I'd have to answer questions for security reasons. When he asked for my date of birth, I got annoyed and he just hung up.

I was lured into picking up because it seemed like a nearby number. Honestly, I'm inundated with spam calls these days! The person on the other end turned out to be a woman claiming she had news about my 'settlement'. When I pressed her for details, she started rattling off so quickly that nothing she said registered. I figured she had dialled the wrong number, so I cut the conversation short and ended the call.

Got a call accusing me of being in a car crash, claiming I should get compensation for something that never took place. Hung up and blocked the number.
