I’m with Shell Energy too and decided to cancel my direct debit since the amount had more than tripled. Then, out of nowhere, I started getting texts from this Zinc debt management firm. I’ve been getting calls from this number nonstop. It seems to be linked to a scam involving calls, texts, and emails all claiming to be from Shell Broadband about some unpaid bill. Got a text from 07860 078 928 claiming to be Shell Energy saying my account’s been sent to Zinc Debt Collectors. I’ve never had any account with Shell Energy ever. This is the third time they’ve messaged me. I’ve reported it to the National Cyber Security Service. Most mobile networks let you report dodgy texts for free by forwarding them to 7726. When you do this, your provider looks into where the message came from and can block or ban the sender if it’s a scam.

WATCH OUT! Got calls from scammers saying I owe money to Shell Energy through some Zinc collections group. I haven’t been with Shell Energy for more than 3 years now. Not planning to pick up since I’ve heard about scams where they try to hit you with reverse charge fees without you knowing. I’m sure the caller was from Zinc SLM. The number they ring from is 0141 301 1055, and you can actually get hold of them there. I spoke with a manager who explained they don’t have to follow the rules about unsolicited calls since they deal with debt recovery. I told them nicely that the call I got was just a voicemail message with no one answering, so to me, that counts as a nuisance call and should be reported. I’m also on the TPS list, so I shouldn’t be getting calls like that in the first place.

Got a voicemail from this number but could barely make out what the lady was saying. The only thing that stood out was her asking for my fiancé by name, which seemed really odd. We're just house sitting for a year, and the phone contract belongs to the homeowners, so how on earth did she know my fiancé’s name? Bit sketchy if you ask me.
