Just had a rather annoying cold call from someone claiming to be about a fictional car accident. When I mentioned that the number is listed with the Telephone Preference Service, she just chuckled as if it was a joke! I've gone ahead and reported them to the TPS as well.

Totally shocked by this - I just got a new SIM to use only for spotify, itunes and the internet, not for making or receiving any calls. So how come I get a call from this number when I don’t even know my own phone number? It must be EE (my provider) selling our numbers to these annoying spam companies. We seriously need more laws on this, but these scammers always seem one step ahead of the law, so we’re stuck with it. Anyway, rant done. My advice is to block all unknown or private numbers and emails until it’s sorted - though I’m not getting my hopes up much!

I picked up the phone, and there was a racket on the other end before they just cut off. Not a quarter of an hour later, the same number rang again. This time, it was another one of those daft "you've been in a car accident" scams. They act all clueless when I mention there’s no accident, asking if perhaps someone else in the household has been involved. When I replied in the negative, they promptly disconnected.
