I've just received a call from someone masquerading as an employee of "Reading Gutter Cleaning," and I must say, it's clearly a ruse. For starters, this person is using a phone number from Glasgow, which is a whopping 400 miles away from where they claim to operate in Reading. If she were genuinely situated in Reading, surely she would know how to pronounce the name of our street correctly. What really irked me was her mention of an "engineer" for the gutter cleaning job. Last time I checked, engineers are the clever folks who come up with designs for things like bridges and railways-not someone who simply climbs a ladder to clear out a few leaves. It’s tradespeople who handle gutter cleaning, not specialists with advanced technical qualifications. It's a classic sign of a scam, in my opinion.

There were loads of noises in the background, like from one of those call centres. They asked if I was “Mr Purdricks” or something close to that. I said no straight away. The caller said sorry, but I ended the call before they could say anything else. I don’t think they’re using the electoral roll since I’m not on the public list. Could be nothing to do with it, but I've had two attempts of bank fraud in the past couple of weeks - people trying to buy stuff online with my card info.
