I got a recorded call saying it was a legal warning for my wife about some fraud charge. The message said, "Press one to talk to someone or you'll be arrested tonight!" The voice sounded kind of Asian but trying (and failing) to sound American. I pressed one out of curiosity. Some bloke answered saying he was from the government fraud unit. When I asked where they were located, he just cut me off right away.

They rang me up and asked for me by my full name. When I asked what it was about, the person on the other end suddenly changed their story and said they’d got the wrong number. I reckon it’s one of those card payment companies targeting small shops.
