I finally picked up today and they asked if I’m responsible for gas and electric bills, which I’m not - my parents handle that, and I just give them money for board. Then they wanted to talk to my mum, but I told them she’s not around because I’m out collecting my sister from school.

Utilita energy is a proper rubbish company. I tried ringing them back, but just got an automated message. Then I asked to have my number taken off their list and it said "didn't recognise number." I’ve made a complaint to Ofcom and honestly, I reckon everyone should do the same.

Kept ringing my home phone and my new mobile nonstop. Never left a voicemail. Just got another call on my mobile and I picked up - a bloke with a Glaswegian accent asking for “Miss Simpson”. Told him he’d got the wrong number and he just said “cheers, love” and hung up.

I really can't figure out how they manage to drop like loads of garbled, robotic voicemails even tho they don’t ring that often. The messages are totally nonsensical but pop up like every 30 minutes even if they never actually call first. It’s super irritating and kinda creepy, and it’s making my voicemail totally unusable. I might have to just switch it off or get a new number since I know how to block the calls themselves but can’t seem to stop these automated voicemails from coming through.

The firm called Utilita from Glasgow. If they've rung you without your consent, you can report them thanks to the updated GDPR laws. Just fill out a quick form on ico.org.uk under the section ‘make a complaint’ then ‘nuisance calls and messages’. Took me just a couple mins to do it.

Eventually, I got really fed up and rang them back to tell them to quit harassing me and that I'm not interested in whatever they’re selling.
