They asked for a name id never heard of - sounds like theyre gathering info to make and sell current, usable data lists. After calling you to pitch their brand, they probably pass your info to other energy firms. I’ve dealt with data brokers and energy companies before, and honestly, they’re the absolute worst. Never give them any personal details, cos they’ll take that as a soft agreement to keep contacting you.

Got a voicemail from some place saying they rang me about Home Energy Supplies and that they’ll ring back. The thing is, I don't even own a house! Sounds like either a utility firm or some sort of marketing firm selling details to energy companies.

The 014128008517 and 01612043032 seem to be coming from the same spot, I found this out after ringing the 0161 number to ask who they were. Then the 0141 number got back to me in under five minutes. Looks like a telemarketer targeting consumers directly.

It was Utilita calling, trying to pitch their prepay gas and electricity. I listened, and apparently I'd save around £64 annually compared to who I’m with now. That said, it’s not really something I’m after because I prefer the predictability of paying the same each year, rather than having to top up more in winter and less in summer. This seems aimed at folks who want a bit more control over their energy bills, instead of just having a direct debit sorted. The caller wasn’t rude or pushy, just going about his work.
