Simply inform them that you're a gas engineer; that's what I did. They then informed me that they couldn't help me save any cash and assured me they'd take me off their calling list. The number in question rang me at exactly 10:21 on the 31st of August, 2016. When I picked up, a male voice-though it sounded slightly affected-queried whether I was indeed my name. As soon as I affirmed my identity, the caller abruptly terminated the conversation. Trust me, they’d probably find it hilarious to have their time wasted, just like we have to do. These blokes are the ones constantly selling your phone number to scammers. Martyn's the one behind the dodgy trick where the number looks local, and he’s even bragged about it in some trade mags.

Got a call from 0141 280 2223 and honestly, it left me baffled. They were quoting stuff that’s from years ago, like seven or more. We’ve moved house and I’m divorced now. Plus, they rang my mobile, which felt super weird. Why they didn’t ring my ex husband beats me since the original documents are all in his name!!!

I receive calls from this number daily. After their sixth attempt, I finally stood my ground and questioned them about the persistent calls. They denied having anything to do with it, but when I inquired how they acquired my number, they abruptly hung up. Despite this, the calls continue, so I’ve decided to just ignore them now.

Got a call from some Indian scammers pretending my Sky TV bill could be cut to £9 a month. I let my mate, who's a bit old school, have a good rant for about 5 minutes, then said I’m actually with Virgin. The bloke didn’t take it well. Blocked the number straight away.
