RISKY - Seems like there's not much anyone can do to stop these scammers targeting folks, many of whom are ill or disabled. But a heads up for BT and OFCOM. Letting these fraudsters use UK numbers that look like they're from UK cities, when they're probably just call centres somewhere in Mumbai, means BT and OFCOM are basically helping these crooks. If the BT boss keeps handing out UK city phone numbers to overseas scammers, he might find himself facing legal trouble.

I usually ignore unknown numbers but this one began with 0141, so I guessed it was a Glasgow line since I’m from the Central belt of Scotland. A guy with a foreign accent was on the phone, asking about an accident where someone supposedly hit my car. I told him straight that I don’t drive, so there’s no way I have a car. He said sorry and then ended the call. Definitely seemed like some kind of scam to me.

I can say with confidence that this isn't a number from Glasgow at all. It's clearly a cloned line. Just a word of caution to everyone out there-be on your guard! After a few more questions, I just ended the call. He said he was calling on behalf of Direct Line, but when I challenged him, he claimed I might be owed £3000 for some accident. By now I was suss it was just a load of rubbish, clearly a scam trying to fish for my info.

What a right cheeky situation! It's a scammer on the other end, so why not keep them on their toes while having a giggle? I had a little mishap myself. Cruising along a perfectly quiet road, I drove over a zebra crossing, well lit mind you, when suddenly a car with dazzling headlights came barreling towards me out of nowhere. It felt like it just swooped in! I carried on pretending to be oblivious, and eventually they twigged that I was having a laugh and hung up. I've received several calls from this number, despite my clear request for them to leave me alone. My number is ex-directory, yet they keep ringing me. It appears to be a scam coming from a call centre abroad, with a Glasgow area code, trying to pester me about some supposed car accident. Quite infuriating, really!

The caller sounded like his name was David and I could tell right away he had a foreign accent. It was a bit hard to understand him at first.

Some bloke said he was from Accident Claims Service and called from a Glasgow number. I just ended the call straight away without even asking what it was about. Then I used TalkTalk’s block feature to stop that nuisance cold-call ringing me again.

Like others have said, this seems to be another fake accident insurance scam.
