I received a similar call today, claiming to be from American Express. When I reached out to them, they couldn't verify that the call was genuinely from them. Thankfully, I had my wits about me when they requested some security information, like 'just tell me your birth month'. Be on your guard!

Be wary of returning calls from these numbers or similar ones, as it could end up costing you a pretty penny. They're sneaky, luring you in so they can rake in some cash off your phone bill when you call them back. It's all a scam!

I keep receiving calls from this number, but I’m usually not around to answer, so it goes straight to voicemail. Oddly enough, they never leave a message. When I’ve attempted to return the call, I’m met with a constant busy tone.

I've received three phone calls from these nuisance merchants already. In the initial pair of calls, the individual on the line identified themselves as representing the RAC. After that, I reached out to the RAC through their 0800 helpline, making it crystal clear that I have not given permission for their representatives, or anyone associated with them, to pester me. Today, that same number rang yet again, but I’ve since added it to my block list, so they’ll just get a perpetual ringing tone while I remain undisturbed. I hope they find great joy in squandering their electricity! - caller: RAC

I received a call from someone purporting to be from AMEX who asked for my birth month. Foolishly, I told them the truth, and then they abruptly ended the call. Since then, every time I've attempted to call back, I’ve only gotten a busy tone. - Caller: AMEX?

Received a call purporting to be linked to my recent RAC membership, claiming I was qualified for three months of financial coverage (or some such rubbish). They then proceeded to inquire about my marital status and the name of my partner. I mentioned that if they were truly from the RAC, they ought to be privy to that information already. Their response? "We’re not from the breakdown department, so we only have your name as the policyholder." I inquired about the procedure once the three months lapse, and they mentioned it was up to me, insisting I could ring them to cancel anytime. I firmly stated I wasn't interested, and they foolishly asked why. I simply said, "BECAUSE I’M NOT, SO JUST BUGGER OFF!"

I received a call that claimed to be from American Express, pitching a so-called ‘new offering’. When I inquired about the specifics of the product, she insisted on running through a series of security questions first before divulging any details. I expressed my desire for a bit more clarity, but she abruptly ended the call. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

Receiving daily phone calls, presumably from First Assist - which appears to be the aggressive sales division of RAC - primarily promoting unnecessary insurance products. With the RAC now under hedge fund ownership, prospective members should understand that becoming a part of the RAC may result in these persistent and bothersome phone calls.
