Got a call from someone who sounded Scottish, kept asking if I owned a Ring doorbell. I didn’t share anything though. I think I saw online that scammers might be able to hack into Ring doorbells or something? Seems a bit dodgy to me.

This bloke called me before and honestly, he was so cheeky and disrespectful. When I mentioned he’d rung us previously, he just brushed it off with “Right, so what’s the matter then?” I could’ve told him it was about some “free” security system, but I knew he’d start probing with personal questions about who lived here and how old we were. Instead, I just told him I wasn’t having his attitude and ended the call. People like him really ought to feel ashamed and hope no one talks to their family the way he talks to others. Absolutely disgusting behaviour.

Got a phone call from some bloke claiming to be Steven, saying he was from 'Security Awareness Scotland' and offering a free home security setup if I gave details about my home life. When I told him I’m on the TPS list and he shouldn’t be ringing me, he came up with some weak excuse and said sorry. Not sure what kind of scam this is, but it definitely doesn’t feel right. If you care about your security, best just to ignore and hang up. I’ve blocked the number and reported it to the ICO now.

My elderly neighbour got a call from some scammer claiming to be from Security Awareness Scotland, speaking with a thick Scottish accent. I picked up and he asked for her by name. When I said she wasn’t there right now and asked what it was regarding, he insisted he needed to speak to the homeowner. As soon as I replied I wasn’t the right person he just hung up. That Glasgow number 01412663258 is now firmly blocked. 👍 Big thanks to repothese for helping expose these calls! Keep it up! 👍

Never heard of Security Scotland before. Told them I wasn’t interested since I already got a security system, but they just kept going and wouldn’t take no for an answer. Had to hang up and block the number in the end.

Got a call from someone claiming they were offering free security checks nearby and just needed some info from me. Didn’t feel comfortable sharing anything with someone I didn’t know, so I just told them no thanks. They didn’t argue and hung up straight away.

Received a call saying I was in the right area for some help with new windows and doors. I told them everything was just updated, so then they asked about the facias which we hadn’t replaced. Then they put me through to someone else who said someone would call back at 6pm. This morning, I got another call reminding me about the 6pm chat. When 6pm rolled around, there was a knock and it turned out to be the sales bloke from the firm. Bit creepy how he knew where we lived! Thankfully, my husband quickly showed him the door. Then we got a call from a number with no ID asking what’s up. Let’s just say my husband wasn’t too pleased with that either!

Got a ring from this number earlier today. It's really upsetting how some folks seem to get a kick outta pestering the elderly and unwell. Fingers crossed they come across this. My missus is seriously poorly and we have to pick up every call just in case it’s the council or relatives. Wish those callers could understand how empty their lives must be. Anon.

I keep getting calls from this number, sometimes 3 or 4 times a day. Whenever I pick up, there's nothing but silence on the other end. It’s really annoying... someone official should really put a stop to these calls.

I got a call as a follow-up from some sort of sales pitch about windows. The very first person on the phone wanted to find out how old I was, and then the second person tried to find out if I lived on my own. When I asked why they needed to know that, they just said it was part of their procedure. But if that’s true, they should’ve asked me right from the start to see if I qualified for whatever "discount" they were offering. I told them I’d want some details sent through by post before I even thought about anyone coming round to my house. After that, they suddenly lost interest, probably because they don’t actually do that. Any proper company would’ve sent something in writing!
