I didn’t receive a response, nor was there any voicemail left. Since I’m currently abroad, I’m being billed £1.80 just to answer the call. After doing some digging, I have a hunch this might be a spam call.

Last week, I received a call from this number, and they promptly left a voicemail claiming to be from Jackson Boyd Lawyers based in Glasgow (a legitimate firm, I checked). The woman on the other end, who introduced herself as Erin, was keen to discuss a personal injury claim with me. However, since I have no association with them, I’ve chosen not to return the call.

Just got a call from this number saying I’d won some contest, then there was a long silence and I could hear someone coughing and making noises in the background. He cleared his throat and tried to carry on, but I hung up and blocked the number straight away!

Some person rang up sayin I should join a euro lottery syndicate and that win was guaranteed. I told them that’s ridiculous cos you can’t know the numbers in advance. Then she asked if I fancied doing her job instead. I asked her how long she’d been living in Glasgow, which totally threw her, she said about 5 years but had a kind of Filipino-sounding accent. When I asked her name, she just hung up on me. What a cheeky move!

They claimed I’d filled in some form online and was in a prize draw but wanted to verify my info over the phone. I asked which contest and when I supposedly entered, but they couldn’t give me any answers. So I told them not to ring again, but the woman got really rude, saying I shouldn’t have put my details online if I didn’t want calls. I ended up swearing at her and hanging up, and I’ve since blocked the number on my phone.

He told me I was one of the chosen ones to get 150 tickets for the lotto draw over a number of weeks, costing £39 altogether but split over the weeks. Said it had to be paid by direct debit which he said was the most secure way. He was quite polite and kept mentioning how good their service monitoring was. If I said yes, I'd then have a chat with his manager. Total scam.

Got a ring from this number claiming I'd won some contest. Asked them how and where I entered, but they couldn’t give me a straight answer. I told them I bet this will end up costing me somehow. They said no, but when I said I wasn’t interested, he offered to take me out of the competition. Then he started talking about the lotto, but I said again I wasn't interested and he ended the call pretty sharp with a quick goodbye.

Received a call on 22nd June 2016, claiming I’d won a Mini Cooper. Then they mentioned that I was supposedly in the running for one and started probing for my details. The conversation took a strange turn with them discussing lotteries and various topics. I’m baffled as to how they acquired my phone number. They’ve been relentless in calling me and if this doesn’t stop soon, I’ll have to consider changing my number entirely.

They've been ringing me nonstop for the past few days, day and night. Finally got fed up and picked up, only to be told I'd won a camera! I told them to buzz off, not to call again, and that they were breaching National Security. Still, they kept going on and I ended up telling them to f#ck right off and block my number. Now it's listed as SCAM REJECT on my phone. I signed up with the Preference Service last July and it stopped for a while, but it's started all over again recently. At one point, I had about 15 different numbers calling me. I've reported the whole thing.

Like a few others here, I got a call from a woman asking me to sign up because apparently I’ve been entered into a draw for an iPhone 6 and £500 Tesco vouchers. £39 seems quite steep to me, and I’ve been getting loads of calls from similar numbers which I just ignore. This really feels like a proper scam to me. Honestly, just watch out - if you go along with what they say on the phone, you could be stuck in a 3-month contract and end up losing near £120.
