Over the last couple weeks this number kept ringing me up loads of times. I’m not a fan of picking up when it’s a number I don’t know, but today I was out and decided to answer just to see what it was about. A man with an Indian accent called and used my last name, then started asking who in my household used phones and if their plans were contracts or pay as you go. He went on to ask about which phone brands I preferred, like Samsung or Apple, and then tried to pitch me an iPad air. I let him talk for a bit before he began digging for info like my full name and both current and previous addresses. He seemed to already have a rough idea of where I lived, so I gave him a made-up address - if this was truly EE, they wouldn’t need to ask. I hope nobody falls victim to this sort of scam. Got loads of calls from this number, and every time I picked up, there was a crazy loud background noise like a busy office. The racket was so bad it messed with my own customers trying to talk at the same time. A bloke spoke but his English was really bad and all over the place. Then he just cut me off... The phone number 01412490494 rang me, and the caller gave a bit of a confusing, long name. He claimed to be calling from EE and was trying to sell an Alcatel tablet. I mentioned I was worried about my high bills too, and he offered to check those for me. He asked for my name, surname, and the first line of my address, and got the two parts of my postcode right. He told me I had gone over my limit by 17.58 pounds and suggested a deal for 39 pounds covering the tablet, data, and my current T-Mobile plan. While still on the call, I logged into both my bank and T-Mobile accounts to confirm the info. Turns out, I wasn’t over the limit at all, and no bill matched the amount he mentioned for December. I told him I wasn’t interested in continuing and that I’d call 150 for help, as it was advised. He ended up telling me to call 150 if I had issues with my high bills anyway.
