Got a call at 09:03 on 10/10/2020 from someone saying they were from HMRC, telling me there was some tax fraud involving me and I had to press ‘1’ to speak to someone about it. Just a heads up, HMRC will never ring you out of the blue or send texts. They always send a proper letter first - no emails, texts or surprise calls. It’s because letters can be tracked, unlike text messages. This number is just another scammer trying to con you out of your cash. So don’t press ‘1’ or engage. Just politely tell them to jog on and hang up straight away.
