My router seems to be making unauthorised "out" calls even though there’s no phone hooked up to it. I'm getting charged for calls that never happened!

Got an unpaid phone bill. It was just 82p.

Hello there! I recently settled into a new apartment and opted for Talk Talk solely for my broadband service. On the day it became operational, I received two calls from this number. After chatting with Talk Talk online, they promptly processed a refund for me. It’s definitely wise to keep an eye on your online billing every now and then! Cheers!

I noticed a charge on my bill for a landline I dont even have set up, so I'm not sure why they put it there.

I find myself in a similar predicament to many others who’ve shared their experiences here. After relocating to a new apartment, I arranged for my internet connection through EE. To my surprise, my second bill included a charge for a 36-second call to a number I don't recognise. For context, I don’t possess a landline phone, and I was busy at work when this alleged call took place. Currently, I’m attempting to reach out to EE to sort this out and hopefully reclaim the erroneous charge.

I noticed a couple of charges of 39 pence each on my bill, coinciding with my switch from BT's ADSL broadband to their fibre service. I suspect these may have originated from some kind of Openreach test number. Given that such calls shouldn’t incur a cost, I’ll be contacting BT to dispute the charges and will be asking for a refund.

I haven't placed a call to this number at all, yet I noticed a charge on my bill the very day I changed my account. Can anyone shed some light on this puzzling situation?

Received a fee for this on a mobile statement despite the fact that it’s solely utilised for internet purposes, with no handset connected at all.

I was quite taken aback to discover that BT levied a charge of 34p for a call to this number on the very day I started using their service. The odd thing is, I don’t even possess a phone! It’s utterly baffling. I shall certainly be lodging a complaint and seeking a refund. How is it that BT hasn’t accounted for this glaring oversight?

I’ve recently spotted a charge on my bill for a call to this number, despite my phone being unplugged at the time! I reached out to Sky, and they promptly refunded me the 32p they had mistakenly taken. Should this occur again, I’ll certainly mention that it’s not just me facing this issue. If any of you experience something similar, I’d recommend you do the same!

This particular number is the testing line for Openreach. It’s used by BT engineers to assess the connections. It’s quite absurd that there’s a fee attached to it. I reckon BT ought to offer a refund for this charge!

I don't even have a phone connected, yet this number has bizarrely shown up on my bill. They charged me twice, each for 30 pence. When I contacted BT about it, they flat-out dismissed my claims that I hadn’t made those calls. It’s utterly baffling!

I received a call from 0141 204 0004 listed on my initial BT bill. This call coincided with the day I switched my phone and broadband services over to BT. I had a chat online with BT, and they were quite accommodating, agreeing to refund the 30 pence that the call had incurred. I'm pleased with that outcome; however, it leaves me wondering why Openreach opts for a premium number for their line testing. Absolutely barmy, if you ask me!

I've noticed this number cropping up on my BT invoice this month, coinciding with the launch of my new broadband service from BT, yet they’re completely dismissing any connection. Keep your eyes peeled!

I noticed an unfamiliar number, 01412040004, on my latest bill from February 2017. It caught my eye not just because I didn’t recognise it, but also because the call was made from my home while I wasn't around! It lasted all of 10 seconds and set me back by £0.22. Quite baffling, really!

Imagine my bewilderment when I opened my internet bill and discovered a charge for a phone line! Now, I know it's a paltry sum of £0.31, yet the peculiar thing is, I've never owned a phone linked to that line. Quite odd, wouldn't you agree? I decided to investigate and typed the number into Google, which led me straight to this site. Hence, I'm penning this remark to highlight that just because you’re not aware of a phone existing in your name, it doesn’t mean one can escape paying the dues.

I can’t believe it! I got billed £1.44 for ringing this number four times within just 15 minutes, yet I never even made those calls! What a right kerfuffle!

I've encountered the same issue; I've never dialled this number. It seems like I answered, only for them to hang up immediately. Now, I’ve been billed for the call! What on earth is happening here?

Just got a rather puzzling bill for a call from this number that lasted a mere 5 seconds (which I absolutely didn’t make), and they charged me 24 pence for it!
STEER CLEAR of this number! It's a complete con, and honestly, BT should really step up and tackle these issues. The so-called BT preference scheme doesn’t seem to be doing much, does it? Plus, with caller display now costing £1.75 a month, it opens the floodgates for all sorts of scams, leaving those who can’t, won’t, or don’t want to fork out £7 monthly in the dark. What a disgraceful situation we find ourselves in...
