Some bloke phoned my landline asking if I’d been having any issues with my Sky broadband. I said no, but he wasn’t giving up. Then he told me to check the router lights and describe the colours. I mentioned how he didn’t even say my name when I answered, so I figured he wasn’t really from Sky. I asked if he actually knew my name, and all he said was "OK." I pushed further, asking for my address and Sky customer number, but he just kept saying "OK, OK." I told him I’d just hang up and block the number. Pretty sure whatever light colours I gave him, he’d try to convince me there’s a fault that only he could fix - for a fee, of course. Always make sure to quiz these callers on your personal info. If they get the basics like your name and address right, ask even more questions. Sky, for example, will know how long you’ve been with them, so keep testing until they prove they’re legit.
