Today, I received a rather alarming call on my mobile from a lady purporting to be an officer from HMRC. I must say, it utterly spoiled my day. She went on about tax evasion, hurling threats of court action and imprisonment my way. I have no doubt that HMRC wouldn’t operate in such a disreputable manner, so I challenged her claims before ultimately ending the call. Even though I recognised the whole thing as a scam, it was still quite disconcerting.
