They claimed to work for the company that deals with my nuisance calls - I’m pretty sure that’s rubbish since it’s actually a system built into my landline. I played along for a bit, pretending I didn’t know much. They even mentioned they knew I’m over 60 and stuff. After a while, they said they wanted to refund me for my subscriptions and asked for my bank info to do that - watch out for this one!

when you ring them back, a woman with an english accent answers claiming it’s a marketing firm and tells you to ring a close number 01403582024 if you want to be removed from their calls. be careful though, as another website shows someone got an hmrc scam call from this very number. even here it’s marked as a bt scam call. it’s possible scammers are spoofing this number! what better way to trick people than by using a number that sounds completely legit!

Got a call from a woman with an English accent saying there was illegal stuff happening on my computer and that BT would disconnect my internet in 2 hours. She told me to press 1 for more details. When I pressed it, some man with an Indian accent came on. Surely nothing to do with BT. Total scam, be careful and dont engage.

for anyone checking this out, i reckon its worth signing up with ips[###] - it blocks all those annoying cold calls, especially from people trying to scam you. ive had loads of those calls myself. the best call i got in 2019 was from georgia, richmond, ips[###], and it was really important. this should be just as important for all pensioners, school kids and basically anyone regardless of your age. if you want to keep your private info safe from fraudsters and con artists, this is the way to go. no more cold callers nowadays! cheers, andrew voss
