I got a call from a really courteous bloke who said he was from the BT telephone preference service, trying to get me to register so I wouldn’t get any annoying calls. I told him I wasn’t bothered because I just tell those pest callers to bugger off. He didn’t quite catch the humour but was polite enough to leave me alone after that.

Usually, it’s someone with an Asian accent pretending to be from BT, saying there’s some kind of issue with your broadband security. Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent claiming she was with BT. When I asked her to clarify, she said British Telecom.
